R&D is key for enhancing economic development and competitiveness, as Hong Kong’s Financial Secretary Mr. Paul Chan has also emphasized in his latest budget for Hong Kong.
The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has definitely demonstrated the importance of R&D in certain areas such as life science and health tech, IT and FinTech, while smart city and environmental technologies are also crucial to a sustainable future.
Israel, nicknamed “Start-up Nation” and well-known for its bold innovative spirit and R&D expertise, has a record-setting number of unicorns in 2021. Hong Kong, on the other hand, is an international financial centre that is committed to becoming a technology hub.
Both sides have been actively promoting R&D in the past years. Why not find the ways to complement and learn from each other?
Now, Hong Kong and Israeli companies are invited to submit joint project proposals for the Hong Kong-Israel Research and Development Cooperation Programme.
The Programmed is jointly implemented by Hong Kong’s Innovation and Technology Commission and Israel’s Innovation Authority under a bilateral framework to encourage industrial R&D collaboration and technology development between the two places.
It provides Hong Kong and Israeli companies access to their respective government funding on collaborative R&D projects aiming at the development of products leading to commercialization in the global market.
Hong Kong companies partnering with one Israeli company or more are welcome to submit proposals to Hong Kong’s Enterprise Support Scheme under the Innovation and Technology Fund.

合作計劃由創新科技署和以色列創新局根據雙邊框架聯合推行，旨在鼓勵兩地合作進行產業研發和發展科技。
兩地的公司可向所屬政府就他們合作進行的研發項目申請資助，藉以開發產品或工序，以促進面向全球市場的商品化工作。
參與的香港公司可與一間或以上的以色列公司合作，透過「創新及科技基金」下的「企業支援計劃」就此計劃提交建議書。
藉此合作計劃，從事產業研發合作的香港和以色列公司可向所屬政府就他們聯合進行的研發項目申請資助。
