Today we celebrate the 65th Independence Day of the State of Israel.

During these years the people of Israel succeeded to flourish the desert in many ways.  It is beyond our prayers and beyond our hopes what Israel has now become and possessed: a diverse population, a liberal democracy, outstanding education, an international source of innovation and brilliant ideas, 4,000 start-ups and many of their successful stories.

The commitment to creativity and innovation are basic values in our society.  Israel now stands at the forefront of innovation and technology worldwide with new inventions of applications for mobile phone, environmental technologies that revolutionized agriculture, medical inventions that save lives and make lives better, and alternative energies that provide more sustainable options for the future.

These are the spirits of the people of Israel and the key factors that make Israel so unique.  We are very proud of our achievements and we are committed to playing a major role in generating a better future, better life for the international community.

This drive for success is one of the values that Israel shares with Hong Kong – a place where excellence is the name of the game.  The relations between Israel and Hong Kong remain strong.  We both consider each other an important partner in bilateral relations, trade, academic and cultural exchanges.

The peoples of Israel and China have a long history of friendship, trust and understanding.  The State of Israel established the first mission in Hong Kong 27 years ago, while the official relations between Israel and the People Republic of China began 21 years ago.

It is a good time to celebrate our bond and co-operation.  We are thankful for the support of the people and government of Hong Kong.  We will continue to enhance our relationship and exchange views and experience.   We are certain that with this energy and determination we will be able to create together better opportunities and better lives.

We look forward to generating a bright change and creating opportunities, hope and peace.
