The delegation is composed of 7 Israeli companies and representatives
of Israel CERT, an unaffiliated and professional
organization responsible for coordinating activities in addressing security
events, pro-active activities before they occur, threats on connected
information systems, and information sharing and public awareness on issues of
information security and privacy.
Organized by Israel’s Economic and Industry Ministry on a
roadshow to Seoul, Hong Kong and Tokyo, the delegation is composed of 7 Israeli
companies and representatives of Israel CERT, an
unaffiliated and professional organization responsible for coordinating
activities in addressing security events, pro-active activities before they
occur, threats on connected information systems, and information sharing and
public awareness on issues of information security and privacy.
One of the keynote speakers is Mr
Micha Weis, Head of the Cyber and Financial Continuity Center of Israel’s
Computer Emergency Response Team of Israel CERT, who stressed the
importance of sharing, exchanges and learning among different countries in
protecting cyber security. Weis said his
centre co-operate with banks, stock exchanges and regulators, to maintain a
sustainable development and to provide them with guideline. The process from the discovery of a security
event, to analysis and search, to inform different departments and
organisations, and to investigate with the police, takes only 20 minutes and it
will reduce and prevent major loss caused by cyber attacks.
Another speaker, Consul General of Israel in Hong Kong and
Macau Mrs Ahuva Spieler said Israel has maintained it’s position as a leading
powerhouse for cyber security innovation in the past three decades, with over
350 companies in this field alone with a total export of 3 billion us dollars a
year – 5% of the worldwide market. She
also said, as an international financial hub, Hong Kong faces the second
highest risk of cyber security attacks in Asia,
although Hong Kong firms are increasing their spending on IT security. Israel
is an innovative hub. She believes Israel and Hong Kong are perfect
match.
At the event, Ir. Allen Yeung, Hong Kong’s Government Chief
Information Officer, explained Hong Kong’s ICT landscape, current and future
security needs and the importance of cyber resilience. Cyber security technology is crucial, as IoT
safety is the pillar of smart city and Fintech is an important drive to elevate
Hong Kong’s status as a financial centre. He hopes the cyber security industries of Hong
Kong and Israel to strengthen their exchanges and co-operation.
