Celebrating Israel’s 65th Independence Day

    The Consulate General of Israel in Hong Kong celebrated the 65th Independence Day of the State of Israel with a reception at the Aberdeen Marina Club on April 23, 2013.  It was attended by senior representatives from Central Government and the Hong Kong SAR Government, as well as dignitaries and leaders from the local sectors and the Jewish Community.

    ​The Hong Kong Police Choir opened the official ceremony by the renditions of the anthems of the State of Israel and the People Republic of China. 
     
    Guest of Honour, HKSAR Chief Executive C Y Leung, graced this special occasion with his presence, among other guests including Deputy Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PRC in the HKSAR Mr Li Yuan-ming, President of the HKSAR Legislative Council Mr Jasper Tsang, Members of the Executive Council and Legislatives Council, Secretaries and Permanent Secretaries of various HKSAR government departments, Rabbis, Trustees of the Jewish Community in Hong Kong, Chairman of the Israeli Chamber of Commerce in HK and Consuls General. 
     
    Ambassador Amikam Levy highlighted in his speech the basic value of the Israeli society that is the commitment to creativity and innovation.  Israel is dedicated to playing a major role in generating a better future for the international community. 
     
    He considers Israel’s relationship with the HKSAR a strong one fuelled with long-term friendship, trust, understanding and common values.  He is thankful for the support of the HKSAR Government and will continue to enhance the relationship with the HKSAR and PRC.
     
    Ambassador Levy will be leaving Hong Kong this summer upon completion of his tenure as Consul General of Israel in the HKSAR & Macao SAR.
