Thanks to Scandinavia Fellowship
in memory of Frances and Benjamin Sperling
The Thanks To Scandinavia Fund from the Benjamin Sperling Bequest to the Hebrew University has endowed scholarships of US $14,000 each in memory of Frances and Benjamin Sperling, for students from Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden, who wish to pursue graduate studies at the Hebrew University.
Recipients are not eligible for any additional Israel-based financial aid. The scholarship is for a single year and is not renewable.
Candidates for the Fellowship should have a B.A. degree or equivalent and wish to spend a year of study within the framework Division of Graduate Studies of the Hebrew University’s of the Rothberg International School (RIS). In addition, candidates must provide proof of citizenship in one of the Scandinavian countries. Students from Scandinavia who have been living in Israel for no more than one calendar year at the time of application may also submit their applications to the Rothberg International School and to the appropriate Scandinavian organization for screening.
The Graduate Year Program is designed to meet the special needs of qualified graduate students from abroad who wish to spend a year at the Hebrew University, whether they are M.A. or Ph.D. candidates or recent college graduates who have not yet commenced a program of graduate study. While this is not a degree program, a full transcript is provided in order to facilitate the transfer of credit.

Wergeland and Holst Scholarships in Israel
The Hebrew University of Jerusalem is pleased to announce the “Thanks To Scandinavia” (TTS) Scholarships for students from the Scandinavian countries for participation in the Rothberg International School’s Summer Program 2015.
In 2015, eight scholarships will be awarded as follows: two in Denmark, two in Finland, two in Sweden, and two in Norway. Applicants are eligible to receive a scholarship of $2500 US, to apply toward application, tuition and housing fees, and living costs.
STUDY PROGRAM: The language of instruction is English. Students may enroll in either one language course (4-6 weeks, program dates vary) or one of the Summer Courses offered (July 9 – August 5, 2015). Note that the scholarship can be granted only for courses mentioned on the Course listing page.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE: RIS Summer Programs are open to undergraduate and graduate students, as well as to mature learners with an academic background. All applicants must have been accepted to a recognized college or university or have successfully completed at least one year of study at an accredited institution of higher education. Scholarships will be allocated according to academic excellence (grades and letters of recommendation) and the relevance of the prospective course to the candidate’s professional pursuits.
