Against the backdrop of recently publicized intentions to perpetrate terror attacks against Israelis present in Istanbul, President Isaac Herzog spoke today (Sunday, 19 June 2022) with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of the Republic of Turkey.
President Herzog thanked President Erdoğan for the efforts to thwart terrorist activities on Turkish soil. In their conversation, the two leaders highlighted the great contribution of this cooperation to the trust being built between the governments and nations.
In their conversation, President Herzog emphasized that the threat has not yet passed and that the counterterror efforts must continue.
The two leaders agreed to continue working for peace and stability in the region by means of open and ongoing dialogue.

At the start of the weekly Cabinet meeting, this past Sunday, 19 June 2022, Prime Minister Naftali Bennett's said:
"On Friday night we attacked and destroyed weapons manufacturing facilities and several other Hamas targets in Gaza. This is the response to the firing of a single rocket from the Gaza Strip which was intercepted by Iron Dome.
“Unlike in the past, we no longer make excuses for the terrorists, nor are we defining them as breakaway factions or electrical mishaps. As far as we are concerned, Hamas is the address...
“We insist on absolute quiet for the residents of Ashkelon, Sderot and the area adjacent to the Gaza Strip.... We will take strong action against any attempt to undermine this quiet.
“We are currently witnessing Iranian attempts to attack Israelis in various overseas locations... Our new rule is: Whoever sends – pays..."
