The 8,000 square meter Sylvan Adams Emergency Hospital was opened last week by President Isaac Herzog, Prime Minister Yair Lapid, Health Minister Nitzan Horowitz, and philanthropist Sylvan Adams.

Designed for both day-to-day emergency needs and a potential influx of multiple casualties from actors of war and terror, the facility serves the entire population of Tel Aviv, as well as commuters, visitors, and tourists in the greater metropolitan area.

It includes 100 inpatient emergency beds, more than any other Israeli hospital, which can be doubled in an emergency.

Canadian-Israeli Silvan Adams, who donated $28 million, told The Times of Israel, “Israel is already a leader on the world stage in medicine... it’s befitting that Israel should be a trailblazer when it comes to the provision of emergency care.... “At Ichilov, I am happy to provide the residents of the State of Israel with the largest and most advanced emergency room of its kind.”

Hospital spokesman Avi Shushan said that, after checking, the facility is the largest of its kind in the world.

Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center treats hundreds of emergency patients a day in its three ER facilities: the main Emergency Room, the Pediatric ER at the Dana Dwek Children's Hospital, and the Lis Maternity and Women's Hospital).

The department operates 24-7 every day of the week, providing high-quality, compassionate emergency medical care, with special attention to minimizing pain and supporting family members.
