3rd to 5th Dec, the Israeli director Maayan Schwartz came to Chengdu with his latest documentary My Friend, Yanniv, and held 3 moving sharing activities in Fangsuo, Yanyouji, and University of Electronic Science and Technology of China. More than 500 audiences participated in these movie events and share their experiences and inspirations from the documentary.
The film displays the story of Yaniv, who is an ALS patient. It provides a glimpse into an honest companionship on a journey full of humor, which challenges conventional thinking about what it means to be alive. The film displays life as a constant struggle between desire and determination, between body and spirit and between helplessness and optimism.
Maayan Schwartz was Born and raised Neve Shalom- Wahat Al Salam, located near Jerusalem. In recent years he directed six short films both fiction and documentary. "My Friend ,Yaniv" was granted with the Bernstein award for Outstanding Documentary Work, screened at the Jerusalem international film festival and was awarded "Best Documentary" and "Second Best Film" in Cinema South Film Festival, Sderot Israel.
