On 26th February 2017, a visual feast combined with modern dance and classical ballet was staged in Chongqing Guotai Art Center. The modern dance chapter was directed by Mr. Yoram Karmi, the master choreographer of Israel.
Since November 2015, “Israel moderrn dance directing master class" has been carried out three times throughout China, two of which landed in Chongqing. The year 2017 is the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Israel. Israel and Chongqing will deepen exchanges and cooperation in the field of modern dance.
"For Chinese dance lovers, master Karmi is not a stranger, he’s come to China many times to deepen art exchanges. He’s also held many dance master classes in Chongqing." Said Liu Jun, the head of Chongqing Ballet. This time, Karmi directed two dances, named "Guizhen" and "Shifang". In order to find inspiration, Karmi wandered on old streets every day in the city, and ultimately created "Guizhen" and "Shifang” according to concepts of " rains in Chongqing" and "charm of Chongqing," These two dances interpret the lifestyle of Chongqing in an unique European-style modern dance form.
