On February 26th, 2018, the Sichuan provincial science and technology department and the Israeli National Innovation Agency jointly issued the notice on the collection of the first round of China (Sichuan) - Israeli Research and Development cooperation project, and the two sides officially launched the collection of the project.
It is said that this cooperation is the first joint research and development cooperation project between Sichuan and foreign governmental agencies, filling the gap of cooperative openness of Sichuan's scientific and technological innovation. The two sides will focus on 12 key areas, such as new energy, intelligent manufacturing, and electronic information and communication, and carry out a batch of projects, for instance, technical breakthrough, technology transfer, transformation of results and popularization and application. This collection fully emphasizes the leading role and the primary innovative position of enterprises, which is the main body of the declaration unit. The enterprises can report to both Sichuan provincial science and technology department and the National Innovation Agency of Israel respectively. Universities and scientific research institutions in the province can participate in the declaration as a technical partner. Israel Innovation Agency and Sichuan science and Technology Department will also plan sufficient funds to support R & D cooperation projects between Sichuan and Israel.
"In the field of innovation, Israel has accumulated rich experience, from high quality education to platform construction for mature technology transformation, and then to the establishment and improvement of innovative ecological systems. China has a broad market, strong manufacturing and industrialization capabilities, and the determination of innovation driven development. There is a high degree of complementarity between our two countries.” said Amir Lati, the Consul General of Israel in Chengdu.
Zhang Wei, deputy director of the Sichuan provincial science and Technology Department, said that after the collection, we will organize specialized experts to assess, demonstrate, review and convene the joint committee with Israel to discuss and finalize the selected projects, for these projects, we will integrate them into the international R & D and cooperation project of the Sichuan provincial science and Technology Bureau, and we will promote each project in a unified way. We are now planning to support about 500,000 to 2000,000 for each project.
The deadline is on June 26th this year. Both China and Israel will jointly determine the first round of projects to be supported in October. The implementation period of the project is not more than 3 years. Next, Sichuan will take this as a starting point to comprehensively and deeply promote cooperation with Israel in scientific and technological innovation. Building an information platform for scientific and technological cooperation between China and Israel, unimpeded the two sides sharing resources for innovation, sharing information on cooperation needs. At the same time, a group of innovative cooperation carriers should be cultivated and strengthened. We will further enhance the level of technological innovation in Sichuan and speed up the construction of the open highland for scientific and technological innovation in the Western China.
