On the afternoon of May 18, the China-Israel Startups Pitch Competition was held at Shijicheng Conference Center. Around 300 participants gathered, among whom included Hao Kangli, vice chairman of the CPPCC, and staffs of the Municipal Science and Technology Bureau and the New Economic Commission and the Wuhou District government, universities, distinguished guests from investment organizations and technology enterprises in China, Consular General of Israel in Chengdu Amir Lati, well-known Israeli writer Saul Singer and representatives from Israeli scientific and technological companies, jointly opened the communication focusing on startups between China and Israel.
This competition is one of the activities of 2018 Chengdu global innovation and entrepreneurship trade fairs, with the theme of Conspire New Economy, Create the Future.
Hao Kangli, vice chairman of the CPPCC, shared Chengdu’s thriving development and the goals and path of startups. He also pointed out that Chengdu will strive to develop new economy and foster new dynamic, accelerate construct modern economic system, for the sake of strong support for Chengdu adopted new comprehensive development wisdom. And Israeli innovative enterprises and entrepreneurs will be warmly invited to come for international collaboration.
CG Amir highly appreciated this event and said, China-Israel Startups Pitch Competition would provide a self-demonstrated stage and an in-depth exchange platform for innovative companies. It shall feature in cooperation between Israel and Chengdu, even to Sichuan, in the field of innovation and startups.
Notable Israeli writer Saul Singer, assistant to the president of IFLYTECH, Fangming, director of Mass Entrepreneurship and Innovation Research Center, and Dan Vilenski, the board of directors of National Nanotechnology organization of Israel were invited to deliver speeches for the competition. Saul Singer is one of the writers of Start-up Nation, he brought a creditable speech with the subject of How can China Stand Out in the Next Round of Global Innovation. Starting with the problem of how to solve universal problems of medical and education in the world, then analyze the importance of innovation to solve various practical problems, which will inspire China to be outstanding worldwide.
In the road show, 12 excellent project teams promoted from the first and second rounds of the competition’s early stage held in Chengdu and Israel respectively (6 teams of each region) were competing in the finals. After evaluation of experts from both countries, the SpacePharma from Israel won the first prize, the mosquito hunter and the PV Nano Cell won the two prize respectively, and the intelligent enterprise and Inensto project won the three prize respectively.
When the competition ended, an activity for project-to-project was launched to build a communication platform for 19 companies from China and Israel. It was enthusiastic of entrepreneurs to seek interested projects, in accordance with their own needs, to explore innovative and entrepreneurial experiences and discuss collaborative willingness. The competition also contributed to the cooperation intention of Chengdu Wuhou Capital Management Group Co. and Infinity Group, the Chengdu Technology Transfer (Group) Co., and the Sichuan University Scientific and Production Group, these enterprises would establish a joint fund. Infinity Group agreed with the Scientific and Production Group to sign the investment service agreement. Sichuan University, Wuhou District and ITTN will jointly launch Wuhou District's Introduction of Professional ResultsTransformation Agents.
