CQU visit

Consul General Visited Chongqing University

    On 3rd, May, Amir Lati, the Consul General of Israel in Chengdu visited Chongqing University, meeting with Zhang Zongyi, the president of the university. Xu Jun, director of International Communication and Cooperation of CQU, and other staffs also attended the meeting.
    Mr Zhang expressed a warm welcome to the Israeli delegation, and introduced the basic background of this City and Chongqing University to Consul General. We understand through his introduction that CQU has been making new plans positively to enhance its internationalization and encourage students to go abroad to feel and recognize the outer world. He also said that Israel is a powerful nation of science and technology, and CQU is a comprehensive university with strong engineering background, which means that there are many chances and giant potential for cooperation. So he wished CQU could strengthen connections with Israeli institutes in areas such as research development, training for teachers, students’ exchanges in future.
    Amir Lati said that China and Israel has good foundation for educational cooperation as more than 30 Chinese universities such as Tsinghua University and Peking University have signed cooperation and exchange agreements with The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Tel Aviv University and Israel Institute of Technology. The Consulate General has been dedicating in promoting the cooperation programs between Israel and Chongqing as well as Chengdu since its establishment in 2014. One of the programs was that Sichuan International Studies University opened the Hebrew major with help of the Consulate General, and this measure made Chongqing the third city in China owning this major only after Beijing and Shanghai.  Another one is to push forward the direct flight from Chengdu to Tel Aviv. Mr. Lati hoped that more opportunities for exchanges and cooperation could be achieved. The Consulate General also attaches great importance to cooperation with CQU, and it would be a facilitator for both CQU and Israel, building long-term cooperative relationship. At the same time, he sent invitations to talented young people in CQU, encouraging them to participate in Chinese Young Leaders Delegations to Israel. Mr. Lati also said that he would help push things like invited Israeli experts to CQU to give series lectures go on well as planned.
