A conference of honorary consuls of Israel will be held for the first time on November 6-9. An honorary consul is a respected citizen of a country (which may or may not have a permanent Israeli mission) who represents Israel in that country.

During the conference, the consuls will meet with President Shimon Peres, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Avigdor Liberman and senior officials of the Foreign Ministry and hold discussions about the work of an honorary consul. They will also tour Tel Aviv and visit the Israel Museum.
Forty honorary consuls from 34 countries are expected to attend the conference. In addition to the professional aspect, the conference will provide an opportunity to express appreciation for the work of the honorary consuls.
Dr. András Lednitzky, the Honorary Consul in Hungary attended the conference as well.
The conference was organized by the Protocol Bureau of the Foreign Ministry.
