Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Ivan Korčok accepted the invitation of his Israeli counterpart Gabi Ashkenazi and flew to Israel early morning today.
"[..] I accepted the invitation because I am well aware of the importance of diplomacy in tense situations, which we are currently witnessing in this conflict," Korčok said.
On his TW account he confirmed, that Slovakia recognizes Israel's right to protect its citizens from attacks by Hamas and other militant groups, and is interested in contributing to the de-escalation of the conflict.
Korčok also said that the situation must be tackled with restraint and further civilian casualties should be avoided.
Minister Korčok had a chance to visit the site of the attack in the town of Petah Tikva and there, standing in the ruins of the building, he emphasized the right of Israel to defend itself against the terrorist attacks of Hamas.
Later in the afternoon he met with Benjamin Netanyahu and discussed mutual cooperation of our countries and prospects for peace.
