In cooperation with the Israeli Embassy in Slovakia, the Slovak National Theatre hosted one of the most famous Israeli theatre - Cameri Theatre from Tel Aviv, featuring the performance A Horse Walks into a Bar.

The performance is based on the book of an essayist David Grossman. The text is full of jokes and very special humor, which makes the genre very unique. English translation of the book was prepared by Jessica Cohen, who along with Israeli author David Grossman, was awarded the prestigious Man Booker International Prize.

An excellent Slovak translation was written by Silvia Singer, who described the author David Grossman as “no classic type of humorist, but using a sense of humor excellently through the main character”. In her interview for Denník N, she stated, that “the reader initially gets caught by amazing jokes and jovial atmosphere of the stand-up comedy; but after getting more into the book, he understands how deep and complicated the story of the main hero is, how complicated his relationships are, while constant twists and turns of the story and behavior of the main character make the book very thrilling."
The Horse Walks into a bar tells the story of a stand-up comedian in a small basement bar whose performance gradually turns into a personal confession revealing years of deeply hidden wounds. Unfortunate childhood, holocaust, death of the close ones or empty and not supporting audience. All of that is covered in an unusual version of the stand-up comedy performed in Hebrew with Slovak and English subtitles.
