On the 9th of March the cinema Lumière screened the film Bulgarian Rhapsody. The film was screened to commemorate the  "Day of the rescue of Bulgarian Jews".  which has been celebrated since 2003.

The evening was opened by yordanka Chobanova, Bulgarian Ambassador in Slovakia together with the Israeli ambassador as a co-production.

The story is  unfolds during the summer of 1943 in the Great Bulgaria, where local Jewish residents must undergo the law of the Third Reich. Two friends Moni and Zozo meet with seventeen Sheli and they both fell in love with her.  Their friendship is put to the test against the background of the ongoing Second World War.

The film tells a story of  young Jewish friends whose destiny is changing by the  young love and hard living  period during World War II. This film, however, reflected in the context of the celebration of the rescue of Bulgarian Jews, because the Bulgarian Orthodox Church was the only religious institution during World War II on the territory controlled by the Nazi Germans who openly and officially helped  the Jews.

Through the efforts of the representatives of the Orthodox Church and the Bulgarian nation during World War II  they saved up to 48,000 Jewish citizens of Bulgaria from being send to German extermination camps.
