Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic continued his visit to Israel on Tuesday where he met with Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman.
He is also scheduled to meet with former President Shimon Peres, the Serbian government said in a statement.
Vucic started this two-day visit on Monday by going to the Yad Vashem memorial complex in Jerusalem and by meetings with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Reuven Rivlin, after which he attended a tree planting ceremony in the Garden of the Righteous Among Nations.
During the first day of the visit, which was described as historic, Vucic and the Israeli officials said that Serbia and Israel would always seek peace and ways of improving their economic, political and all other relations.
Serbia and Israel have good relations with each other, Vucic stated upon arrival in Israel, adding that he expected some very important results on the political and economic levels.
He remarked that he would ask the Israeli officials to help secure support for Serbia from the US and other countries where Israel had a lot of influence.
He pointed out that the visit gave him an opportunity to talk to the most important figures in that country, including Peres, whom he described as an iconic figure of Israel.
The Israeli media have reported that Netanyahu said at the start of the meeting with Vucic that the Serbian and Jewish nations had a long history of good relations, stressing that the Jewish people would never forget the role the Serbs played in the war against the Nazis.
Vucic's historic visit to Israel reflects the friendship between the Jewish and Serbian people, as well as commitment to closer relations between the two countries, he noted.
