Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic received on the occasion of the Statehood Day greetings from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

"This year marks the 25th anniversary of restoring diplomatic ties between Israel and Serbia. I am proud of the accomplishments that we have achieved over the past quarter of the century.

The signing of the agreement between Serbia and Israel on visa-free regime in 2009 and your historic visit to Israel in December 2014 were important milestones in our relations, which are stronger than even.

The commitment of your government to the memory of the Holocaust and the fight against anti-Semitism, as well as your commitment to the adoption of legislation relating to Jewish property even more tied our two countries.

I hope that significant progress will be achieved this year with the establishment of a memorial centre for Serbian Jews who perished during the Holocaust. This will give an important dimension of education and remembrance of the Holocaust.

While celebrating the National Day, I wish you and the people of Serbia continued development, prosperity and success. I look forward to the further expansion of friendship and cooperation between our two countries in the years to come," reads the congratulatory note by Netanyahu.
