    The “belt and road” forum was held in Beijing, 14-15 of May. The head of the Israeli delegation was the Minister of Communications and Regional Cooperation Tzachi Hanegbi. Hanegbi's delegation included the head of the Foreign Ministry's economic department, Ms. Yaffa Ben-Ari, and Israel's ambassador to China, Mr. Zvi Heifetz, as well as other representatives from the Minister's office and the Foreign affairs Ministry.
     
    The Silk Road Forum presents President Xi’s Silk Belt Initiative (OBOR initiative), based on the ancient Silk Road, which aims to connect China, Central Asia and Europe through the economic development of the entire region. In the last few years many Chinese companies have contributed to the infrastructure of the state of Israel as well as invested in Israeli technology companies. Israel, as the startup nation and as one of the founding member states of the AIIB, is looking forward to take a constructive and positive role in the belt and road initiative.
     
    As part of the visit, Tzahi Hanegbi was interviewed on Sunday morning during the forum for  Chinese Television, in which he stressed that he "expects the development of bilateral relations between China and Israel to grow with the belt and road initiative, Israel has a lot to contribute to this initiative and can work together with China and other countries on various projects”.
     
    During his visit, Minister Hanegbi met with the president of the  Silk Road Fund, with the President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and with  the deputy head of the Chinese information office of the state council.
