Reading Habits in Israel
In Israel, 40.1% of people age 16-65 read books at least once a week.

In the non-fiction section, Israelis especially like to read biographies.
In Israel, women read more than men. 47% of women read books at least one time a week, compared to only 34% of men that do the same.
One of Israel’s most celebrated novelists, MEIR SHALEV was born in 1948 on Nahalal, Israel’s first moshav. His books have been translated into more than twenty-five languages and have been best sellers in Israel, Holland, and Germany. He is also a columnist for the Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth. His honors include the National Jewish Book Award and the Brenner Prize, one of Israel’s top literary awards, for A Pigeon and a Boy. He has been named a Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French government. Shalev lives in Jerusalem and in the north of Israel.
Some of his most well known book were translated to Chinese as well, including The Love of Judith (朱迪斯的爱人们 ), The Blue Mountain (蓝山) and A Pigeon and a Boy (耶路撒冷之鸽).
