Starting Tuesday evening, 17.04.2018, Israel marks the Memorial Day for the Fallen Soldiers of Israel and Victims of Terrorism.
This day is always marked one day before Independence Day, emphasizing and symbolizing the connection between the fallen and their devotion, and with the establishment of the State of Israel.
During Memorial Day, for 24 hours (from sunset to sunset) all places of public entertainment in Israel (theaters, cinemas, nightclubs, pubs, etc.) are closed.
The most noticeable feature of the day is the sound of a siren that is heard throughout the country twice, during which the entire nation observes a two-minute “standstill” of all traffic
and daily activities.
Today, we bow our heads in remembrance of the soldiers who fell in the line of duty and those taken by the violence of terrorism.
