This week, the parents of Hadar Goldin arrived to the embassy of Israel in Beijing and presented to the embassy staff a special 30-minute documentary about their son’s art, named: "Hadar - The freedom to create”.
Dr. Leah Goldin and Prof. Simha Goldin are the parents of Hadar Goldin, an Israeli soldier who was abducted and killed by Hamas during the 2014 Gaza war during an UN-mandated ceasefire.
Ever since, Hamas continues to refuse to return the remains of Hadar Goldin, in violation of a foundational principle of International Humanitarian Law. The return of Hadar's body to Israel is especially important, because according to the Jewish faith the burial should take place as soon as possible after death, and usually takes place within one or two days.
The film was also screened at the UN and at the EU headquarters in Strasbourg. The film presents Hadar's special character and personality through his artwork. Hadar was a remarkably gifted young man — a painter and graphic artist, a poet, and an inspiration to all who knew him.
The Goldin family have committed themselves to recovering the body of their son and giving him the decent burial that he deserves in Israel.
