Marking the auspicious occasion of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn's 5th cycle birthday anniversary, POSN Foundation, the National Science and Development Agency (NSTDA), the Science Society of Thailand (SCISOC), the Institute for the Promotion of Teaching Science and Technology (IPST) have organized the “Asian Science Camp 2015 (ASC 2015)” during 2-8 August, 2015 at Thailand Science Park, National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA).
Approximately 270 science-gifted students from 30 Asian countries, including 10 high potential students from Israel, are challenged academically in exciting lectures and hands-on studies from the world’s top scholars, and establish international friendships that last a lifetime.
Teaming up with the Asian Science Camp 2015, Professor Ada Yonath, a 2009 Nobel laureate in Chemistry from Israel, will lead an interactive plenary session “From Basic Science to Advances in Anti-infective Medicine and Microbiome Preservation” on Wednesday 5 August.
Professor Yonath is well-known for her pioneering work on protein crystallography. In 2009, she received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry along with Venkatraman Ramakrishnan and Thomas A. Steitz for their studies on the structure and function of the ribosome, becoming the first Israeli woman to win the Nobel Prize, the first woman from the Middle East to win a Nobel prize in the sciences, and the first woman in 45 years to win the Nobel Prize for Chemistry.
For those that can't make it to the Asian Science Camp 2015 in person, you can still listen, learn, and share live updates from the camp via NSTDA Channel.
