On Tuesday 19, nearly 500 guests gathered at Siam Kempinski hotel to celebrate Israel’s 67th Independence Day. Israel's 67th Independence Day, which this year falls on April 23, is the national day of Israel, commemorating the Israeli Declaration of Independence since 1948.

H.E. Mr. Simon Roded, the Ambassador of Israel to Thailand and his wife, Mrs. Ganit Roded, as well as the embassy staff warmly welcomed everyone to the reception in Israeli tradition.

The Ambassador spoke of the importance of close partnerships between Israel and Thailand, especially the contribution of thousands of Thai workers in the past 20 years towards the development of agro-industry and agriculture in Israel. “The TIC (Thailand-Israel Cooperation on the Placement of Workers) project has successfully cut the fees paid by Thai migrant workers going to Israel to work in the agricultural sector by 80%. In order to better protect migrant workers, this unique model should be implemented everywhere.” said H.E. Mr. Simon Roded.

Following the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the Development Cooperation Program, between Thailand International Development Cooperation Agency (TICA) and Israel’s Agency for International Development Cooperation (MASHAV) singed in 2014, the “Greenhouse Crop Production and Management” workshop was kicked off in February in order to support capacity buildings for Cambodian, Laotian, Myanmar and Thai participants.

This is a win-win collaboration, not only by government-to-government but also by people-to-people.
