(Communicated by the Foreign Minister’s Media Advisor)
Minister of Foreign Affairs Avigdor Liberman will leave tomorrow (Wednesday, 3 December 2014) to attend the OSCE (Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe) Conference in Basel and the Saban Forum in Washington D.C.
While in Basel, FM Liberman will participate in the 21st OSCE Ministerial Council and will discuss issues relating to conference agenda, "Security of Europe as a Joint Project," with the attending foreign ministers.
Prior to his departure, FM Liberman stated that the current international situation is such that the security of every region in the world is dependent on a state of security prevailing in other regions. This is because terrorism in the modern era has no boundaries and does not discern between countries and regions, but only between moderates and extremists, between those who wish to live in a free, advanced world and those who view them as heretics who must be destroyed. For this reason, European security is dependent on a determined struggle against those who threaten the security of the moderates in the Middle East.
At the conference, FM Liberman will meet with the Foreign Minister of the Netherlands Bert Koenders, the Foreign Minister of Lithuania Linas Linkevicius, the Foreign Minister of Thailand Tanasak Patimapragorn, the Foreign Minister of Bulgaria Daniel Mitov, the Foreign Minister of  Italy Paulo Gentiloni, the Foreign Minister of the Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin,  the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mamadyarov,  the Foreign Minister of Belarus Vladimir Makei and the Foreign Minister of  Estonia Keit Pentus-Rosimannus. FM Liberman will also meet with other senior officials.
After the conference in Basel, FM Liberman will depart for Washington D.C., where he will participate in the Saban Forum and speak at the opening of the conference on the subject of Israel in the region and in the world, and will also hold additional meetings.
