The Ambassador of Egypt, Mr. Atef Mohamed SALEM SAYED ELAHL, and the Ambassador of Jordan, Mr. Walid Khalid Abdullah OBEIDAT, today presented their credentials to the President of Israel.
In addition to the symbolic aspects of the ceremony, the accreditation of the new ambassadors represents an important tier in Israel's relationship with Egypt and Jordan. Their inauguration will enhance bilateral relations and will help to develop cooperation for peace and economic prosperity, for the mutual benefit of all parties. The regular relations between the countries will continue make an essential contribution to regional stability and to the promotion of peace in the Middle East.

Six new ambassadors were received today (Wednesday 17 October 2012) by Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon.
Ambassador of Egypt Mr. Atef Mohamed Salem Sayed Elahl, Ambassador of Jordan Mr. Walid Khalid Abdullah Obeidat, Ambassador of Armenia Mr. Armen Melkonian, Ambassador of the Côte d'Ivoire Mr. Jean Baptiste Gomis, Ambassador of Italy Mr. Francesco Maria Talo and Ambassador of Malta Mr. Simon Pullicino presented their credentials to DFM Ayalon, who congratulated them and expressed the hope that the relationship between Israel and their own countries would strengthen and deepen in the political, economic, social and cultural spheres.
DFM Ayalon was particularly pleased to see his old friend, Jordanian Ambassador Mr. Walid Khalid Abdullah Obeidat. The two had previously served together at the UN. DFM Ayalon: “I congratulate you on the respectful and professional appointment as ambassador to Israel, and wish you and the rest of your colleagues the best of luck.”
