Open call for the 2017 Meitar Award for excellence

    The Meitar Award is an international prize which is given for excellence in the field of photography.

    The Meitar Award is an international prize which is given for excellence in the field of photography. By submitting your work, you will get an opportunity to showcase it to a world class jury, and have a chance to win prize money, a solo exhibition and a one year cooperation with a curator worth $14,000.
    The jury, which is compiled of internationally renowned figures, will select a shortlist of 20 finalists whose works will be presented in a group exhibition at the Israeli Photography Festival in Tel Aviv November 2017. All the submitted work will be judged anonymously by their originality and quality.
    The Meitar Award is an initiative of the Israel Photography Festival and the Zvi and Ofra Meitar Family Fund. It was first given in 2016 to Israeli artists who showed their talent and outstanding abilities in photography. As of this year the Meitar Award has become an international award, with the aspiration to create a world wide dialogue through the language of photography.

    Candidacy prerequisites:
    ·         Adult (under country of origin law)
    ·         No previous museum-related solo photography exhibition
    ·         Artists who have a proven volume of work
    ·         Submitted body of work must date from the last five years. Only body of work which had not been displayed as such before will be accepted.
    ·         Each participant may submit a body of work comprising up to 12 images (hereinafter "the body of work")
    ·         Only images taken by the candidates in person may be submitted.
    ·         The submitter must possess full rights of use for the images, and is fully and exclusively liable for any third-party claim or lawsuit related to the publication of the submitted images.
    ·         The participant accept the stipulations of the contest bylaws wholly and absolutely.
    ·         Platforma Co. Ltd. reserves the right to check whether the candidates meet the above criteria, and will have the full and absolute power to decide on any disagreement that arises on this matter at any time.
    Mode of Submission:
    - Photographs must be uploaded to the contest website photographyfestival.co.il/meitar within the period of time detailed below. The submitter must follow the directions for body of work submission listed in The Contest Website. The images must meet the "images criteria" listed below.
    - A photographer may register as candidate once and only once. Any additional candidacy will be disqualified. Group candidacies and candidacies on behalf of various bodies will be null and void. Images will be rejected if they are found to be incomplete, faulty, completely or partially fake, images acquired fraudulently or late submissions. A candidacy will be assumed to have been submitted by the owner of the account through which the body of work was submitted. The "account owner" is the person that was registered in the account upon its opening.
    - The body of work should comprise 5-12 images, to be submitted in JPG format, with a 1000 pixel resolution for the short side (for example, 1000x1500 pixel). Maximum size per image – 2MB.
    - The title of the work – up to 60 letters in English – must be attached.
    - A short description of the body of work (up to 800 words) must be attached in English. It should describe the project or provide other relevant information, and may include links to other websites or video works.
    - A short resumé of the artist in English must be attached.
    Relevant dates
    Registration: June 22, 2017, 12:00 – July 19, 2017, 24:00
    Candidates located outside Israel are required to determine the exact beginning and end times for registration in their time zones.
    The names of the photographers whose body of work will be screened at the Fifth Photography Festival of November 2017 will be announced in October 2017.
    The Meitar Award winner will be announced at the opening of the November 2017 Photography Festival.
    The International Photography Festival reserves the right to change the above mentioned times and dates, and advise the participants of the change over the The Contest Website and/or through the International Photography Festival social media channels.
    Participation in the competition Requires fee of $45. Please note that starting from July 14 the entry fee will be $54.
