MASHAV-UNECE Joint Workshop Opens in Israel

    The professional program was organized by MASHAV in cooperation with the Economic Commission for Europe-UNECE, for national and urban stakeholders, decision makers and practitioners from Eurasian countries, with the goal of sharing Israel’s experience and best practices, and showcasing successful renewable energy (RE) deployment practices, energy efficiency technologies (EE) and perceptions in Israel.

    Twenty-three high-level professionals from 14 countries are taking part in the workshop, representing: Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Macedonia, Montenegro, Russia, Serbia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan. Three UNECE officers are accompanying the workshop: Economic Affairs Officers, UNECE Sustainable Energy Division, Mr. Oleg Dzioubinski and Mr. Viktor Badaker; and Mr. Sergey Tulinov, ESCAP Economic Affairs Officer, Environment and Development Division.

    During the workshop (8-12 February), participants will be exposed to strategic thinking and to a variety of solutions in the fields of RE and EE. In addition, they will examine practical tools aimed at supporting the implementation of new policies and application in their own countries. Participants will also have the opportunity of discussing possibilities for enhancing international cooperation in energy infrastructure, development and trade, which can be achieved through investors, officials and developers from both the private and public sectors.

    The program includes professional visits to various sites of renewable energy technology deployment and roundtable discussions session with an emphasis on the Inter-ministerial work needed to promote implementation of renewable energy and energy efficiency.
