On June 25th, 2021, Israeli Ambassador Meirav Eilon Shahar presented Israel's instrument of accession to the Geneva Act of the Nice Agreement to WIPO's Director General Daren Tang.
The
Nice Agreement
and its Geneva Act establish a classification of goods and services for the registration of trademarks, streamlining trademark application processes, and making it easier for brand owners and entrepreneurs to seek trademark protection.
The Geneva Act of the Nice Agreement, as amended, will enter into force, with respect to the State of Israel, on September 25, 2021.
Ambassador Meirav Eilon Shahar: "Israel joining the Geneva Act will benefit both companies & consumers by clearly identifying marks & their origins. The IP protection System plays a significant role in incentivizing innovation."
