Israel, Morocco sign MoU on IP

    Today (Monday 18 July), the State of Israel and the Kingdom of Morocco signed in Geneva their first Memorandum of Understanding on Intellectual Property, in a move that will boost innovation and strengthen entrepreneurial relations between innovators in both countries.
     
    The agreement was signed by Adv. Ofir ALON, Executive Director, Israel Patent Office  (Ministry of Justice), and Mr. Abdelaziz BABQIQI, Director General, Moroccan Office of Industrial and Commercial Property (OMPIC), in presence of Mr. Daren TANG, Director-General of the World Intellectual Property Organization in Geneva (WIPO), on the sidelines of the Sixty-Third Series of Meetings of the Assemblies of the Member States of WIPO.
     
    The objective of this Memorandum is to provide mechanisms for promoting cooperation in the field of industrial property protection. It aims at developing knowledge exchange and information sharing between the two National IP Offices, and at providing assistance to small and medium-sized enterprises in the sphere of Industrial property protection. The Memorandum is concluded for a period of 5 years and shall be prolonged automatically for further five-years periods.
     
    This agreement is the latest development between Israel and Morocco following the re-establishment of normalized relations between the two countries in December 2020, in the framework of the Abraham Accords. It is testament to the strong growing relations between the two countries, to create a more peaceful and prosperous region.
