Holding the Syrian Regime Accountable for its Human Rights Violations

PRESS RELEASE

  •   Holding the Syrian Regime Accountable for its Human Rights Violations
  •

Following the debate of the Human Rights Council on Syria yesterday, 22.9.2020, in which Ambassador Meirav Eilon Shahar, Israel’s Permanent Representative to the UN in Geneva, emphasized the gross and systematic violations of every possible Human Right by the Syrian regime against its own population, we welcome the step of the Dutch government to hold the Syrian regime accountable under International Law for these gross human rights violations, and torture in particular.

The Assad regime has systematically used siege and starvation tactics, gender-based violence, killings, enforced disappearances and arbitrary detention, crimes that cannot go unpunished.

    ENDS.
