HEALTH & SOCIAL AFFAIRS

  •
Israel was established on the ideals of equality, social justice and fair opportunities for all. These principles, anchored in Israel’s founding documents, are reflected in Israel’s world-class universal health care system, social security institutions, and various government agencies tasked with social equality and decent employment.

In health, Israel promotes healthy lifestyles, combats childhood obesity and encourages innovation in medicine. Israel is also a pioneer in trauma and emergency medicine, with its emergency medical team accredited by the WHO as the best in the world. Israel is likewise a vocal proponent of gender equality, of promoting the status of older persons in their communities, and of maintaining decent work and clean global supply chains.

In Geneva, Israel advocates this progressive agenda in a variety of organizations, most prominently in the WHO, ILO, and the UNECE where it fights to leave no one behind as the international community pursues the Sustainable Development Goals.
