“Good morning and happy election day!” said President Reuven and First Lady Nechama Rivlin as they arrived to cast their votes today (Tuesday, 30 October, 2018) at the “Yefe Nof” school in Jerusalem. Right after voting, the president called on all Israelis to exercise their right and vote.
President Rivlin:
“Here is where we decide what happens around our homes. Go and vote!”
“This vote is no less important than the elections to the Knesset, where Israeli policy is set and our positions on security and economy and other issues are decided,” said the president. He emphasized that “here we decide what happens around our own homes, whether there is transport, clean streets, urban development in our towns, kindergartens for our children and grandchildren, planning and building. These are very important. I know that some of you say ‘I vote for the Knesset’, but it is no less important to vote in municipal elections. Go and vote!”
