MFA response to the UNHRC resolution

  •
Israel has an independent, professional judicial system that has already begun investigating the events along the Gaza Strip-Israel border. Israel rejects the attempt to impose an external investigation driven by inappropriate political motives.

Israel totally rejects the resolution of the UN Human Rights Council, that once again has proven itself to be a body made up of a built-in anti-Israel majority, guided by hypocrisy and absurdity. The results of the commission of inquiry set up by the UNHRC resolution are a foregone conclusion inherent in the wording of the resolution. It is clear to all that the purpose of the commission is not to arrive at the truth, but rather to impair Israel's right to self-defense, and to demonize the Jewish state.

Time and again the UNHRC ignores flagrant human rights violations all over the world, choosing instead to attack the only true democracy in the Middle East. Indeed, the Council has adopted more resolutions against Israel than against all the other states in the world combined.

In contrast to claims by the Council, the vast majority of Palestinians killed were members of Hamas, as leaders of that terrorist organization readily confirmed.

Israel strenuously rejects claims that Israel's defense forces are acting illegally when they carry out their mission to protect Israel's borders and Israeli civilians. Israel is acting legally and correctly in protecting its sovereignty and preventing the masses from charging the border with the aim of killing Israelis and committing terror attacks, all orchestrated by the Hamas terror organization.

Israel has an independent, professional judicial system that has already begun investigating the events along the Gaza Strip-Israel border, in the accepted manner. Israel rejects the attempt to impose an external investigation driven by inappropriate political motives.

Israel will continue to defend itself and its citizens against both terrorism and international bodies that attempt to hinder its right to defend itself.
