As part of the effort to enhance the bilateral relationship between Israel and India, particularly commercial and tourism ties, Interior Minister Rabbi Arie Deri approved yesterday (Wednesday, 5 April 2017) the framework of the new visa agreement between the two countries, a result of the collaboration between the Ministry of the Interior and the Population Authority.

Under the terms of the upgraded agreement, Israeli citizens wishing to travel to India on business or as tourists will receive a multi-entry visa valid for five years. The agreement grants identical terms to Indian citizens wishing to visit Israel.

Expressing his satisfaction with the plan, Minister Deri said:  "The initiative is an appropriate and important move towards strengthening the Israel-India bilateral relationship, which will make a great contribution both politically and economically. The visa will help Israelis develop their business with India, and enable Indian citizens to do the same in Israel."

The agreement will be ratified within the next few weeks.
