PM Netanyahu comments on US Security Council veto

    For the first time in six years, the United States used its veto power to veto the UN Security Council resolution rejecting President Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

    Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, today (Monday, 18 December 2017), posted a video on his Facebook page thanking US President Donald Trump and US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley for vetoing the UN Resolution rejecting President Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. This was the first time in six years that the US used its veto power in the Security Council.

    Following is the text of Prime Minister Netanyahu’s comments:
    "Thank you, Ambassador Haley. On Hanukkah, you spoke like a Maccabi. You lit a candle of truth. You dispel the darkness. One defeated the many. Truth defeated lies. Thank you, President Trump. Thank you, Nikki Haley."
