President Reuven Rivlin on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 received from the children and grandchildren of the late Israeli artist Menashe Kadishman his work, "Herzl", created in 2014. In the painting, Theodor Herzl, the father of Zionism, is standing on the balcony in the city of Basel, surrounded by illustrations embodying the realization of his dream in Israel - including tree planting, an urban community, farmers, people bathing in the sea, and more.

The original artwork signed by the artist was hung in the President's office, in the presence of Kadishman's children and grandchildren.

President Rivlin said: "I am proud to display the work of such a meaningful artist in the President's Residence. It is a great honor for us. It is a deeply moving work, rooted in the Israeli experience."
