Israel and Paraguay hold strategic dialogue in Jerusalem

    ​A strategic dialogue between Israel and Paraguay was held in Jerusalem on the 22nd of May. The Political Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Paraguay, Mr. Fernando Avalos, was greeted by Ministry of Foreign Affairs Director General Dr. Dore Gold. The mission from Paraguay included Ambassador Max Haber, Director for Asia, Africa and Oceana Mrs. Norma Cardozo and Consul Fernando Allo.

    Dir-Gen Gold stressed the friendship between the countries and thanked Paraguay for its show of support to Israel especially in international forums.

    The MFA Deputy Director for Latin America and the Caribbean Mr. Modi Ephraim led the dialogue on the Israeli side, and several themes were explored, including technical cooperation, regional aspects, cultural agreements and more.

    During their visit, the delegation visited the MASHAV - Israel's Agency for International Development Cooperation agricultural site as well as several hi-tech firms.

    Israel opened its embassy in Asuncion in July 2015, and since then cooperation has been flourishing under the lead of Ambassador Peleg Levi.

    An official visit by President of Paraguay Mr. Horacio Cartes and several government ministers is planned to take place in July 2016.
