(Communicated by the President’s Media Advisor) President Reuven Rivlin this morning (Wednesday 13 May 2015), on the last morning of his state visit to Germany, visited the city of Kiel in the Schleswig-Holstein region.
The President held a working meeting with Schleswig-Holstein Minister-President, Mr. Torsten Albig.
The President thanked Minister-President Albig for his warm welcome, and noted his pleasure at seeing that the strong friendship between Israel and Germany was not confined to Berlin, but found expression across Germany.
Later, President Rivlin met with students at Kiel’s Christian Albrechts University, and held an open discussion with them and answered their questions on a range of issues.
The President said to the students, “I look at you, and remember that fifty years ago I was like you a student, studying at Jerusalem’s Hebrew University - the happiest time of my life. In another fifty years, you could be president. You are already today, leaders of your generation. You have the ability to influence greatly the society in which you live – it is an ability you should use wisely.”
