President Rivlin meets with president of Ivory Coast's National Assembly

    President Reuven Rivlin this morning (Wednesday 29 July 2015), met at his residence with a the President of the Ivory Coast National Assembly, Guillaume Kigbafori Soro.
    The President spoke of the challenges Israel faced as a democracy and said, "Israel as a Jewish and democratic state, deals with far from simple disputes. It is not an easy task, yet the pride of Israel's democracy is in its ability to strive amidst the struggle with these difficult questions and answers."  The President added that he saw great importance in the relationship between Israel and the Ivory Coast, and noted that he would be pleased to see a strengthening of ties and increase in the cooperation between the two countries.
    President of the Assembly Guillaume Kigbafori Soro thanked the President for his warm welcome and stressed that Israel was an example to the people of Ivory Coast, as a young democracy that had prospered in a short period of time.
    He said, "You are a small population, which has built with its own hands a flourishing democracy. Ivory Coast this year marks 55 years of independence, and in our visit to Israel, we have come to learn further, how to build a successful and flourishing country, as well as to hear how to best deal with terrorism, as a country which has begun to deal with this danger in recent years."
