(Communicated by the Foreign Minister’s Media Advisor)
Minister of Foreign Affairs Avigdor Liberman met today (Wednesday 28 January 2015) with the Foreign Minister of the People's Republic of China, Wang Yi. The two foreign ministers discussed various issues, including the strengthening of the relationship between Israel and China, a series of bilateral issues, the negotiations
with Iran, the global struggle against terrorism and Middle Eastern affairs.
FM Liberman addressed the events on the northern border, and said that he believes Israel should change its approach to dealing with attacks in the north, and should respond to the firing of rockets at Israeli sovereign territory in strength, similar to what the the response of China and the United States would be to similar events. FM Liberman told his Chinese counterpart that Israel expects the support of its friends in the international arena. He added that he believes that the whole world should adopt a new approach to dealing with terrorism, a tougher and more serious approach that does not suffer provocations of the type we witnessed today from Hezbollah. FM Liberman stated that terrorist organizations operate under different names around the world, but their goals against the West and in the Middle East are identical.
Prior to this, FM Liberman opened the "Israeli Capital Funds in China" event, and stated that the cooperation in the high-tech field significantly strengthens not only the economic relationship, but strengthens the bilateral bond in general as well.
