Exactly 23 years ago, on March 17, 1992, our embassy in Buenos Aires suffered a horrific attack directly devised and orchestrated by Iran. A total of 29 people were killed, including Israeli diplomats, embassy employees, neighbors and passersby. Dozens more were injured.

Two years later, Buenos Aires suffered yet another attack, on the AMIA Jewish community center, once again orchestrated by Iran through its terror organization, Hizbullah.

The State of Israel continues to be committed to the investigation of these attacks and to the uncompromising war against global terrorism - on both the military and diplomatic levels. The safety and security of our emissaries throughout the world, who literally stand in the front lines, are our foremost priority.

The attack against our embassy in Buenos Aires will forever remain an open wound for the entire Israeli foreign service. We remember the victims - family, friends and colleagues - every day, and especially today.

    May their memories be blessed.

    Nissim Ben-Shetrit
    Director General
