Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sent a letter to Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan in the wake of last week's terrorist attack in Kano in which over 100 people were killed:
    Dear Mr. President, dear friend,
On behalf of the people of Israel, please accept my heartfelt condolences following last Friday’s horrendous terrorist attack in Kano.
Israel and Nigeria face the same ruthless Islamist terrorism which targets innocent civilians, whether Muslims, Christians or Jews. We must make a concerted effort to defeat these forces of evil, which threaten the security of our countries and that of all civilized nations.
Kindly convey our deepest sympathies to the families of the victims and our best wishes for a special recovery to the wounded. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the people of Nigeria at this difficult time.
    In friendship,
    Benjamin Netanyahu
