President Peres condolences on terror attack in Russia

    Terrorism is the cause of much senseless pain and suffering in the world, and I trust that the international community will continue to unit in a fight to eliminate this terrible scourge, and ensure peace and security to all.

    President Shimon Peres sent the following letter of condolence to Russian President Vladimir Putin following the suicide bombing at the railway station in the Russian city of Volgograd:

    "Your Excellency, Dear Mr. President,

    I was deeply shocked to hear the news of the suicide bomber's terrorist attack at the railway station of Volgograd. In my name and on behalf of the people of Israel, I wish to extend my heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, and the people of Russia, and wish the injured a speedy and full recovery.

    My heart goes out to those who have been affected by this heinous deed and by previous attacks which have recentlyi afflicted Russia. I cannot but strongly condemn attacks on innocent people by terrorists who are driven by hate and a thirst for destruction. Terrorism is the cause of much senseless pain and suffering in the world, and I trust that the international community will continue to unit in a fight to eliminate this terrible scourge, and ensure peace and security to all.
