Israel's Deputy Permanent Representative at the UN, Ambassador David Roet, addressed the Integration Segment of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) on Achieving Sustainable Development Through Employment Creation and Decent Work For All:
"Around 15% of the world's population or over one billion people live on less than $1.25 a day and suffer from extreme poverty. Employment is one of the most direct ways to combat extreme poverty. Israel has developed numerous strategies to promote job creation for all its citizens, as well as vocational education and training programs for populations from unique religious and cultural background."
