Bank of Israel Governor Stanley Fischer said last Thursday (3 December 2009) that Israel's economic growth next year (2010) may be higher than the 2.5% forecast by the Central Bank.

In a speech at New York City's Yale Club Fischer said :"My guess is that as we revise, it will probably be a little bit higher, possibly significantly higher”.

Fischer noted, however, that :"The bank's forecast of zero growth this year will probably be about right, or maybe even a little low”.
