The Israel Environment Bulletin, Vol. 40, published in March 2014, surveys some of the highlights of environmental activity in Israel in 2013.

In-depth articles in this issue focus on major environmental issues that are of concern not only to Israel but to the international community. One article looks at the data revealed in Israel’s first PRTR report and presents some interesting international comparisons. Another article looks at a major topic on the international agenda: adaptation to climate change. It reviews the findings and recommendations of the Israeli Climate Change Information Center in relation to both national and local adaptation.

As Israel continues to promote its recycling revolution, the results of the first year of implementation of the Packaging Law are especially encouraging. The coming into force of Israel’s e-waste law, along with the implementation of a wide range of other recycling laws and regulations, will go a long way toward fulfilling Israel’s recycling targets.

Finally, the Bulletin surveys recent activities on the regional and international fronts as Israel continues to expand its participation in environmental forums, to widen its bilateral connections and to promote environmental regional cooperation.

In addition, there are interviews with both Environmental Protection Minister MK Amir Peretz the ministry’s new Director General David Leffler.
