Two Palestinian terrorists were identified infiltrating into Israel from the southern Gaza Strip earlier this morning. The soldiers on the scene exchanged fire with the terrorists, during which both were killed. There were no injuries to IDF soldiers.
GOC Southern Command Maj.-Gen. Yoav Galant and the GOC Gaza Division Brig.-Gen. Eyal Eisenberg arrived on the scene in order to understand the circumstances surrounding the infiltration.
Several communities, including Kissufim, Ein HaShlosha, Nirim and Nir Oz, with thousands of residents, are located in the vicinity.
IAF targets terrorist group preparing to launch rockets
Earlier today, in a joint IDF- ISA activity in the northern Gaza Strip, the IAF targeted a terrorist squad preparing to fire rockets into Israel. Direct hits, as well as secondary explosions proving the presence of explosive materials, were identified. According to Palestinian reports, three terrorists were killed.
In addition, an anti-tank missile was fired at an IDF force in the southern Gaza Strip. The force responded by returning fire at the source of the fire. These incidents follow an infiltration by terrorists earlier today, during which two armed militants opened fire at IDF soldiers.
In another unrelated event, two rockets were fired at Israel today from the Gaza Strip. The rockets landed in the Ashkelon Shore Regional Council.
