Cleared for publication: On August 31, 2015, the ISA (Israel Security Agency) and Israeli Police arrested Tamer Ahmed Mahmad Barim, 36, at the Erez Crossing. Barim is a resident of Bani Suheila in the Gaza Strip.

Barim admitted that in the context of his profession as a merchant, he transferred hundreds of tons of building materials earmarked for the rehabilitation and development of the Gaza Strip directly to the Hamas terrorist organization, circumventing the UN monitoring system designed to ensure that materials donated by countries and organizations are used for reconstruction and development of civilian infrastructure.

Barim was indicted in the Be'er Sheva District Court on October 1, 2015, on three counts of perpetrating crimes against the security of the state, including aiding and abetting a terrorist organization and purchasing items for use in terrorism.

The defense establishment will continue to track and thwart attempts to smuggle construction materials for terror.
