Gaza Strip land crossings weekly status report 21-27 August 2011

    This week the crossings operated only partially, at the Palestinians' request, due to the Ramadan holiday.

    This week, 863 truckloads (19,920 tons) of goods were unloaded at the crossings, despite the 45 rockets and mortar shells launched by terror organizations towards Israel.

      Next week the crossings will be closed due to the Id-Al-Fiter holiday in accordance with the Palestinians' request.  

    Erez
     4.8% decrease in the number of people that crossed through the Erez crossing

    107 international organization staff members entered Israel.
    77 international organization staff members entered the Gaza Strip.
    284 patients and accompanying individuals crossed into Israel and the West Bank.

    On August 25 the terror organizations from the Gaza Strip launched mortar shells towards Israel and hit Erez Crossing, while 3 women and 2 infants were crossing back to the Gaza Strip after receiving medical treatment in Israel.  Due to the damage caused to the crossing from the mortar shells, the Palestinians were trapped in the crossing.  They were rescued by Israeli soldiers and brought to safety, where they received medical treatment.

    Imports

    863 truckloads (19,920 tons) were imported to the Gaza Strip, including 73 truckloads of aggregates (2,920 tons).
    603 tons of cooking gas were transferred.

    104 truckloads were designated for the international organizations; the rest was imported by the private sector.

    Food made up 46% of the imports and construction materials 15%.
